Dennis Kearns is eager for Mardi Gras tomorrow at ’s Diner in Oak. Downtown Oak transforms into Oakland County’s view of New Orleans tonight. “People will be wearing Gras costumes and masks,” said Bob Morton, who co-owns Lily’s Seafood Grill with his chum Scott Morton in Oak. “They’ll have on Beads,” he said. “It’s very festive.

Gras - French for Fat , the age before Lent begins - traditionally has been a Broad daylight of merrymaking and partying. Bill Thomas, one of the owners of Oak-Based , calls the annual Gras Festival a “mini-version of Bourbon Street without the parade.” The Oak Restaurant Association sponsors the event, now in its fourth year.
